Feathering My Studio Nest

A couple of years ago we downsized our big house and bought this little one level fixer in the same neighborhood our two college kids grew up in. What we soon found out was that even though we downsized, company didn't. When you live in Oregon, it becomes a great destination in the summer for those that live in the desert!  My original studio plan did not allow for an extra bed for my daughter when out of town guests invaded her room. Recently, with my parents coming for an extended stay to help with our son's wedding, I realized I needed to carve out a cozy nook here in my studio for my sweet daughter. I sometimes wonder if she has since favored this little perch more than her own nest in the room next door!

I moved my sewing station into the closet nook and organized the daylights out of it!

My shelves and vintage workbench left here from the original owner of the house in the early 1950's, remain as the command central for all my creating.

Again, because I have this wild A.D.D. going, I have most objects in this little sanctuary in neutrals. At the end of each day, all creative messes go back into their little homes so I can start with a blank pallet at the beginning of each morning.

Such a sanctuary that this has become, I start my morning before everything else with a cup of coffee, perched at my workbench, with my devotional and scripture open, pondering what the day will have in store, as I watch a hundred birds come and go from the feeder outside my window and birdbath below.

What a perfectly feminine and beautiful room! A sanctuary to be sure! I love that the shelves and workbench are original to the house. The gown in the first photo is so dreamy! :) Thanks for linking up to the Workspace Showcase at WWC!

Oh how I'd love to take a nap on that bed! But then again, I'd probably be too busy looking through all of your craft supplies!

Love your work space!

Thank you for visiting me at my studio today. Your studio is AMAZING and beautiful. Looks like maybe a guest could sleep over there. If I were the guest I wouldn't sleep a wink. I'd be exploring every drawer and every inch of that beautiful space. Just dreamy!
